1885 trade card for Schweitzer and Beer, located at 111 State Street (the current address would be 19 N. State Street). This was one of the largest stores in late 19th century Chicago in which to purchase “toys, dolls, games, novelties, holiday presents, and tree ornaments.” Children like Fanny Glessner, who would have been seven years old in 1885, would eagerly seek out cards like this to paste into their scrapbooks.
