Ferris Wheel, located on the Midway at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition. The Ferris Wheel, designed by George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. opened to the public on June 21, 1893 and stood 264 feet tall. The 36 cars could each hold 60 people, for a total capacity of 2,160.
